What is HALO Laser?

The HALO laser works on all skin types.

Unlike other lasers that only penetrate the outer layer of skin (epidermis), the HALO is a fractional laser using both ablative and non-ablative wavelengths to go deeper to optimize results. Additionally, this special laser isn't just for fine lines and wrinkles; it corrects facial flaws, too. One of Halo's unique features is the motion-tracking technology used to measure your treated areas. As a result, the laser can scan and pinpoint skin imperfections deep within the epidermis, which is often unseen by you or the doctor.

HALO Laser Procedure

The HALO procedure requires a topical anesthetic and is performed as an outpatient treatment. Depending on the number and size of areas to be treated, your treatment may take one or two hours to complete. First, Dr. Durkin will measure your face with motion tracking technology to ensure your facial area is treated evenly. Then, the HALO handpiece will track your skin section by section until the system recognizes your treatment is complete. Due to Halo's innovative dual-wavelength technology, the laser can resurface 25 to 30 percent more area of your skin than compared to traditional lasers.

Laser Skin Resurfacing Recovery & Results

Your skin may feel like you have a sunburn in the treated areas. In some cases, you can apply makeup to cover any redness and return to your daily activities the same day. If you had aggressive HALO sessions, it might take five to seven days and up to two weeks for other areas to properly heal. As your skin regenerates, it will expose beautiful, softer, and more youthful-looking skin in five to seven days. The treated skin will begin to peel or flake, and you may have some itching during this time.

There will be even more continued improvement over time, with results lasting six months to a year.
