Dr. Alan Durkin is both an American Board Certified Surgeon and American Board Certified Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon. Dr. Durkin specializes in Plastic Surgery and Cosmetic Reconstructive Surgery of the face and breast including, facelifts and brow lifts, nose reshaping, facial fat grafting, breast augmentations, breast reconstruction, and revisional breast surgery (fixing breast augmentations). Dr. Alan Durkin also routinely performs body contouring procedures such as tummy tucks and mommy makeovers (combination of breast surgery and tummy tuck).
Dr. Alan Durkin is a diplomate of the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery. Dr. Durkin is also on staff at Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach and Sebastian River Medical Center in Sebastian, Florida. Dr. Durkin specializes in cosmetic plastic surgery and reconstructive cosmetic plastic surgery of the face and breast.

Dr. Durkin is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS), American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS). Dr. Durkin also serves as a consultant for Allergan® and Merz Aesthetics®.
Dr. Alan Durkin graduated magna cum laude from the University of Miami, earning a B.S. in Biology.
He then earned an M.S. from the University of Chicago in Physics and an M.D. from the University of South Florida. He is a faculty member and a Clinical Assistant Professor of Plastic Surgery at Florida State University and Nova Southeastern University. He is currently involved in multiple clinical trials regarding facial and breast aesthetic surgery and regularly publishes on both topics.
Dr. Durkin has published over 25 peer-reviewed publications in medicine and has presented his specialized cosmetic techniques at national and international physician symposiums, including the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society for Dermatological Surgery.
He has earned over seven awards for most outstanding medical presentations. Dr. Durkin is also the recipient of numerous awards and accolades in medicine including, the Arnold P Gold Award for Humanism in Medicine, Outstanding Resident Surgical Educator for four consecutive years, the John E. Turlich Award for Resident Teaching Excellence, and the Patient’s Choice Award for five consecutive years.
Dr. Durkin is a member of the American Board of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), a professional organization of Board Certified Plastic Surgeons. Plastic Surgeons must apply for membership with ASPS and meet eligibility requirements to be accepted for membership. In addition, all ASPS members must be Board Certified in Plastic Surgery.
The mission of ASPS is to advance quality care to plastic surgery patients by encouraging high standards of training, ethics, physician practice, and research in plastic surgery.
For example, the ASPS physician members must uphold ethical advertising guidelines that prevent them from misleading patients or offering free or discounted surgery. However, these same advertising guidelines are not required by non-member physicians or physicians that are not board certified in Plastic Surgery.
